LOVING, VINCENT

Concept, Motion Design, Adobe Aero (+ AR research)

Changing the approach to art and storytelling.

Loving Vincent is an exploration of a research question that I started exploring in 2021 as part of my degree research. How do we design meaningful emotional experiences that live at the intersection of art and tech? This project I then decided to revive in 2026 for the HORIZON Grant Application, taught me a lot of lessons on the state of the heritage sector, the future of the arts, and the affordances that technology can bring to the current discourse.

As a solo project, Loving Vincent, pushed me to wear many hats: researcher, planner, editor, coordinator. I wrote the narrative structure the built the backbone of this project in 2021, guided by the thought that the general public deserved to see Van Gogh under a light that isn’t “the artist who chopped his ear off”.

Among the hundreds of lovely letters that he wrote, I selected the ones that can offer a window into the artist’s personal life to offer a refreshing perspective on the person behind the paintings.

I designed a selection of animated scenes in Adobe Aero to create a portable mobile AR experience. I added soundscapes and 360 art to make the experience fully immersive.
